I Dream Of Nutrition: Choline

Once again I have been awoken by a dream and unable to relax until I finish research.

At least it was 2:00 AM as opposed to 4:00 AM.

This time instead of it being because I was arguing with someone (myself seeing as it was a dream) over “Is a calorie really a calorie?” my dream was riddled with the desire to better explain why choline is important to the body and how to make sure you’re getting it in your daily diet.

Choline is nutrient that helps prevent the accumulation of fat in the liver; aids in the detoxification of metabolic wastes and toxins. Furthermore it is a B-complex vitamin that is a constituent of lecithin; essential in the metabolism of fat.

Unfortunately, dietary recommendations have discouraged people from eating high choline foods, such as whole eggs and fatty meats. The 2005 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey stated that only 2% of postmenopausal women consume the recommended intake for choline.

In summary, don’t be afraid of good fats that are coming from whole eggs, meats (beef, fish, chicken), milk, almonds, peanuts, beans, etc. They’re essential for your organ function, promoting fat loss and maintenance of great health overall.

Stop being afraid of foods.

Now back to your regularly scheduled sleeping.
